Gradings at MUTKD are held once per semester, typically towards the end of each teaching period. These gradings are practical assessments where members demonstrate what they have learned in order to progress to the next belt level.
For beginners, there are nine colour belt levels to progress through before reaching black belt (Dan I). These include yellow, blue, and red belts, with each colour division further divided into three ranks, ranging from Stripe I to Stripe III.
Details of the techniques and requirements assessed at each level can be found in the grading syllabus below. Members are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the syllabus in preparation for grading.
To be eligible for gradings at MUTKD, members must own a full Taekwondo uniform and have access to appropriate sparring gear. Members are also required to bring a personal copy of the grading book to the grading session they wish to attend.
Please note that participation in gradings is subject to a grading fee.
